Rural Religion Class Moves Heavy Sandstone Rock

September 23, 2013

The church was built with about 200,000 pounds of stone, each stone handled four times for a total of 800,000 pounds of rock moved.   It is a very good way to appreciate the construction.  The students don't see the church until after they move 500-1000 pounds of stone.

Rural Religion is a study of the religious forms of rural society with special emphasis upon the rural church in the southeastern U.S., with attention to historical, social, cultural, and demographic transformations of rural institutions from 1800 to the present.
